Central America Economic Review is not a news outlet. Our focus is on long-term trends, regional comparisons, and evidence-based insights that support informed decision-making.
-
The Central America Composite Index (CACI) is a proprietary analytical framework developed by Central America Economic Review to evaluate sovereign economic strength across the Central American region.
The index is built on five core data pillars that measure key dimensions of national economic performance and stability. It is updated quarterly, allowing it to provide more timely insight than many traditional institutional reports, which are often released annually.
While the CACI Index offers more frequent updates, its methodology is intentionally conservative and more heavily weighted toward macroeconomic fundamentals than typical investment-analysis tools. The index is designed to assess the overall economic health and structural resilience of national economies rather than the performance of individual companies, sectors, or financial markets.
-
The Country Data page provides key economic and social indicators for all Central American countries. The data is sourced from central banks, national statistics offices, and multilateral institutions, including the World Bank, IMF, ECLAC, and IDB.
Designed for research and comparative analysis, this page offers reliable, evidence-based information to support policy analysis, academic work, and regional economic research. It is not real-time market monitoring.

Some articles and content are published in Spanish to ensure that Central America Economic Review reaches both an international audience and readers across the region. Because the publication focuses on Central American economic analysis, providing content in Spanish helps make research and commentary more accessible to policymakers, economists, academics, and professionals within the region.
We also encourage contributions from local and regional economists and subject-matter experts. Their perspectives and expertise strengthen the publication and provide valuable insight that helps investors, analysts, and policymakers better understand the economic challenges and opportunities facing Central America.

Our goal for 2026–2027 is to make all digital content on Central America Economic Review available in both Spanish and English. Expanding bilingual access is a priority, as it enables the publication to serve both regional readers and the international research, policy, and investment community more effectively.
Currently, the publication is managed by a small team led by our principal editor, with volunteer support. Because of this, not all articles can yet be translated into both languages. To address this, we use a staggered publication approach that prioritizes article language based on relevance for regional and international audiences.
In the meantime, readers may use browser-based translation tools or AI language features to view content in their preferred language. Students, researchers, and financial professionals relying on key data or analysis should verify important figures and conclusions against the original text to ensure accuracy.
